Have you seen that CDEC posted the draft rules for universal preschool quality standards for public comment? The draft rules build on the concept released in September, and lay out further details in a few areas that Buellers may want to check out (e.g. instructional practice, on-site observations, health screenings, and professional development requirements, etc.)
The aim of the quality standards is to fulfill the vision of HB 1295: ensuring a top-notch experience for every child and family in universal preschool, no matter the setting. Right now, CDEC is seeking input and ideas to fine-tune these rules. It’s critical to hear from various stakeholders to make sure these draft rules set programs up to best serve children, fit with existing practices across the state, and are user-friendly and easy to put into action.
Buellers may also be interested to join CDEC’s webinar on November 13th. It will be an opportunity to walk through what’s in the draft, which may be helpful as Buellers consider what comments they might submit through the input form.
