ARAPAHOE COUNTY EARLY CHILDHOOD COUNCIL

About the Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council: The Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council (ACECC) is one of thirty-four Early Childhood Councils in the State of Colorado.  The local Early Childhood Councils provide an efficient, community-based infrastructure to support a state-wide early childhood system. The Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council is composed of community leaders from early care and education, health, mental health and family support programs-working together toward comprehensive, systemic goals to meet the needs of providers, parents and children.

 

Position Description:  The Early Learning Consultant is responsible for consultation to childcare providers employed in home and center environments to assist in quality improvement.  The Early Learning Consultant is responsible for the creation of internal documents as well as the coordination and implementation of existing quality improvement plans in conjunction with the program staff & director, the Learning & Development Team, the Professional Development Coordinators and partnering professionals.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

Serve as the primary consultant for identified home and classrooms within centers; partner with the evaluation professionals, state licensing specialists, other ACECC consultants, program staff, and parents to determine targeted improvements.

 

Address and improve the quality of care by: helping providers develop and implement an improvement plan; bringing needed resources to provider, including health and safety resources; modeling quality adult-child and adult-adult interactions; and helping providers problem solve in order to accomplish targeted improvements.

 

Address and improve the ability of providers to impact school readiness by: providing providers with public school readiness standards and information to guide curriculum and programming; providing consultation around specific school readiness standards, especially early literacy; and providing training specific to social and emotional development.

 

Conduct Environment Rating Scale Assessments in family child care homes and/or classrooms within centers.

 

Help providers identify children with emotional, behavioral, mental health, and developmental needs that put them at risk for expulsion, and support effective inclusion with resources, referrals, coaching, education and modeling as well as linking families and care providers with resources.

 

Serve as stewards of resources to improve the quality of the settings and facilitate the purchase of equipment and materials based on improvement strategies.

 

Attend ACECC Program, Coaching and Partner Meetings as deemed appropriate.

 

Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

 

Perform under demanding and varied work schedules with the ability to remain flexible and focused during interruptions and distractions

 

Provide outreach to families, partners and the community-at-large regarding ACECC’s mission and vision.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field or Associate’s degree with core hours in ECE coursework

 

Family childcare experience or 2 or more years as a center director or coach.

 

Strong computer and technology skills especially with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Virtual Platforms, and database management

 

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and independently work on several projects simultaneously

 

Coaching credential

 

Knowledge and experience working with Colorado Shines

 

Ability to organize and prioritize workload

 

Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

 

Presentation skills related to early childhood content

 

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse audiences

 

Ability to work evenings and weekends

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Colorado Child Care Director’s Qualification

 

Experience with Environment Rating Scales and Quality Assessments with Programs (such as ITERS and ECERS, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC))

 

Expanding Quality in Infant and Toddler Care (EQIT) Train the Trainer

 

Experience supporting other providers formally and informally.

 

Compensation is $47,000-52,000
