JOB ANNOUNCEMENT:

Chief Operating Officer/Director of Programs

 

Focus Points Family Resource Center is seeking a dynamic, seasoned Chief Operating Officer/Director of Programs to work with the Executive Director to lead and manage a strong, growing, multi-programmed nonprofit. The successful candidate will supervise the key staff, overseeing day to day operations of programs and services and the organization.

 

For over 22 years, Focus Points has worked successfully to transform the lives of low-income and working families in Northeast Denver and beyond. Focus Points serves over 1,500 families each year, most of whom are Spanish-speaking immigrants. Focus Points is committed to:

 

·       School readiness programs to open doors to future success;

·       Family literacy and adult self-reliance programs to facilitate independence;

·       Healthy living and health access programs to promote active, vibrant living;

·       Parent engagement and community leadership to foster empowerment; and

  • Economic and workforce training and development to support financial independence and community stability.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Education/Experience:

·     Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or commensurate experience

·     Administrative/management experience in a nonprofit

·     Experience running, developing and managing programs and services

·     Organizational development experience

·     Supervisory experience

·     Experience with working with diverse communities; particularly beneficial to have experience with low-income and immigrant populations.

 

*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·     Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required

·     Proven ability to develop and run programs

·     Ability to lead, supervise, and evaluate personnel

·     Skills in using Windows and online computer programs and databases

·     Outstanding oral and written communication skills

·     Commitment to a family development model emphasizing assets in each person and family

·     Ability to develop collaborative relationships and partnerships

·     Analytical and problem-solving skills

·     Knowledge about community resources, a plus

·     Attention to detail and balancing numerous tasks

·     Able to maintain high levels of confidentiality, credibility and professionalism

·     Demonstrated experience being able to remain motivated while working independently or collaboratively as needed

·     Good organizational skills

·     Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and deal with challenges

·     Must be able to work some weekends and evenings and have reliable transportation

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·     Support and supervise management team and individual managers of these programs: Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), Parents As Teachers (PAT), Adult Education, Family Development, and Early Childhood Education (ECE)

·     Oversee Human Resources with Executive Director, including hiring process, annual professional evaluations, goal setting, professional development, policies and procedures, employee handbook, conflict resolution, and new hire orientation

·     Oversee day to day operations of building, programs and services at Focus Points

·     Provide monitoring and training on all databases including Efforts To Outcomes, Family Development model and other topics as needed

·     Utilize data and research to inform and strengthen programs, including long-term tracking of PAT and HIPPY children through Denver Public Schools identification system

·     Plan and facilitate management team meetings and monthly all staff meeting

·     Develop, periodically review, and update organizational policies and procedures with Executive Director

·     Develop, maintain, and strengthen new programs with Executive Director

·     Create and maintain relationships with funders, funding intermediaries, participants and other service providers

·     Oversee specific program budgets and funding streams (expenses and revenues) in collaboration with Executive Director, coordinators, program directors and accountant; modify as needed

·     Ensure all outcomes, deliverables and statements of work for specific grants are being addressed and completed

·     Ensure all components of Colorado Family Resource Center Association membership are in compliance

·     Maintain a professional attitude and adhere to a high level of confidentiality towards Focus Points staff and participants

·     Provide support to fundraising efforts and special events

·     Other duties as assigned
